For this complex activity, all three engineering departments of UniPi &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dici.unipi.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DICI<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dii.unipi.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DII<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destec.unipi.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DESTEC<\/a> &#8211; joined forces under the coordination of the Space Systems Laboratory. Working under an ASI contract in the frame of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/tecnologia-ingegneria-micro-e-nanosatelliti\/micro-e-nanosatelliti\/il-programma-alcor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ALCOR programme<\/a>, the EXCITE team also includes four SMEs located in Tuscany: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerospazio.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aerospazio Tecnologie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/crmcompositi.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CRM Compositi<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingeniars.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IngeniArs<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbigroup.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MBI<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"160\" data-end=\"529\">EXCITE is built to bring innovation into orbit through the in-orbit demonstration of five technologies, all equally central to the mission: a green monopropellant thruster based on hydrogen peroxide, a pulsed plasma thruster, a reconfigurable S-band antenna, an onboard demodulation concept for IoT communications, and pulsating heat pipes for advanced thermal control.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"531\" data-end=\"773\">The mission is currently baselined on a 12U platform. The reference profile targets a one-year operational campaign in a 500\u2013550 km sun-synchronous orbit, with operations coordinated from Pisa.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"998\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">We\u2019re genuinely happy to see EXCITE moving from planning to action.
